11-18-The suspect has been staying at the complainants mothers house since May while she has been in the hospital to take care of the house and her bills.  There is now $132,460.51 dollars missing from bank accounts and life insurance policies.

 

11-25-NRPD dispatch received a complaint from the assistant principal at the middle school regarding an incident involving prescription drugs.  Writer responded and obtained information for a report.  Two female students will be referred to juvenile court. 

11-25-On 11-25-08, Officers responded to the area of Gatestone Dr. in reference to two suspicious male subjects dressed in all black clothing.  Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the subjects.  Approximately 40 minutes later a resident from Wren Haven Cir reported a suspicious white vehicle parked in front of his house.  Officer checked the vehicle which was unoccupied. Approximately 10 minutes later, that same vehicle was observed exiting the Ridgefield  Development onto Bagley Rd. A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with two male subjects dressed in black clothing, who were later arrested for burglary.

11-26-A resident arrived at NRPD and requested to speak with an officer regarding problems he has been having with his eighteen (18) year old son who resides in Cleveland.  Information was taken and warrants were obtained for Telephone Harassment and Menacing.  The father also obtained a CPO through the Lorain County Justice Center for him and his family.

11-27-On 11-26-08 an officer observed a red Chevy Cavalier operating eastbound on SR 10 without a front license plate.  The officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was currently under suspension and had an active warrant for her arrest from Brooklyn P.D..  A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  The driver was charged with driving under suspension and possession of both marijuana and paraphernalia and booked into the city jail.

11-27-An Officer observed a vehicle on US 20 operating after dark with no lights on.  The Officer initiated a traffic stop and discovered that the driver was Driving Under Suspension.  The driver was cited and released on scene, and the vehicle was released to a valid driver.

11-27-Officers were dispatched to Bagley Rd. in response to shots fired.  An adult male was charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits, and using weapons while intoxicated after he fired a handgun in his back yard.

11-27-An Officer reponded to a local business for a report of a stolen vehicle.  A report was taken on scene, and the vehicle was entered as stolen.

11-29-A female was stopped for a speeding violation.  She was found to have no driver's license.  She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after a search of the vehicle resulted in finding the contraband.

11-29-Officers were dispatched to Mulligan's Pub in reference to a criminal damaging complaint. A female had broke a window to the pub after being forced to leave. She was later observed driving and was subsequently stopped. The female was lissued several traffic violations and criminal charges.

11-30- An officer checked a vehicle registration and discovered that the vehicle owner had an active warrant for his arrest through this department.  The vehicle was stopped and the passenger was identified as the wanted subject.  As the passenger opened the door, the officer observed drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the passenger door pocket.  He was arrested on the warrant and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and booked into the city jail.

11-30--A business owner reported that someone had taken a red Western plow from the parking lot sometime within the last week.

11-30-On 11-29-2008 at approximately 0200 hrs, officers were dispatched to a fight in the parking lot of Aces Bar and Grill.  Information was obtained for a report and subsequent charges.

11-30-An officer was dispatched to Rosebelle Ave. to investigate a complaint of a black male entering an occupied residence and then walking back out.  The subject was located and placed under arrest.  At NRPD he was issued charges for Underage Consumption, Criminal Trespass and Disorderly Conduct by Intoxication.  He was released to a sober ride.

12-01-Officers were dispatched to a residence on Westfield Dr. for a domestic dispute. A female there was arrested for Domestic Violence after she punched her aunt in the mouth.

12-01-Officers responded to a Westfield Dr. residence for a domestic disturbance.  Investigation resulted in Domestic Violence charges filed against the husband of the victim.

12-01-An officer was dispatched to the station to take a report on a stolen firearm.  Upon arrival,  the victim stated a .22 caliber Mossburg  rifle was taken from his pick-up truck parked on his property.

12-02-An officer was traveling NB on Jaycox Road and observed a vehicle directly in front of him commit a traffic violation. The vehicle was subsequently stopped on Drake Street, West of Jaycox Road. The driver was taken into custody for OVI and Child Endangering. The vehicle was inventoried and then towed by Pattons. The female driver was transported to NRPD where she was processed and held on bond.

12-02-Officers responded to a motor vehicle crash on Lorain Rd. near Motel 6.  Investigation revealed that a pedestrian attempting to cross Lorain Rd. failed to yield to an eastbound vehicle and was struck, causing fatal injuries.  An inventory of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was conducted prior to towing.  The inventory revealed a handgun that was improperly stored inside the vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle was charged with Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle.   

12-04- An officer observed a vehicle operating eastbound on SR 10 with only one headlight and no license plate lights. The vehicle was stopped and it was discovered that the driver was under suspension.  A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

12-04- An officer was on foot in the parking lot of Speedway on US 20 at Jaycox Rd. and heard a vehicle's tires sliding on the wet pavement as it turned into Speedway. It came to a complete stop after striking a curb.  The officer made contact with the driver and detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon her breath.  A series of FSTs showed the driver was impaired and she was arrested.  The vehicle was released to a sober friend.  The driver was transported to NRPD, processed, and released after posting the required bond.

12-05-An officer was traveling EB on Sugar Ridge Road and observed a Jeep Cherokee following a white pick-up too closely. The officer turned around and paced both vehicles at a high rate of speed. The pick-up turned SB onto Bender and the Jeep proceeded WB on Sugar Ridge. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the Jeep after additional violations were observed. The driver had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person and subsequent field sobriety test indicated that he was under the influence. The vehicle was inventoried and then towed by Pattons. The driver was transported to NRPD where he was processed and released to a sober ride. 

12-06- A vehicle was stopped for an equipment violation on SR83.  A check of the driver's Connecticut operator's license showed that he was under suspension.  He was arrested and transported to jail and the vehicle was towed.  

12-07- An oficer was dispatched to West Breezeway Dr. to handle a complaint of a possible Burglary.  Upon arrival on scene the officer met with the victim and a home health care nurse.  The front door to the residence had been kicked in and no property was taken from the residence.

12-08- An officer was north bound on Lear Nagle and observed the defendant hitchhiking.  Upon making contact with the defendant it was learned that she was highly intoxicated.  The officer transported the defendant to her mother's residence, but it was determined the defendant could not stay there.  The defendant was transported to the NRPD where she was processed and held until sober.

12-09- An officer observed an underage female in possession of a bottle of liquor in the parking lot of the Speedway Gas Station on Center Ridge Rd.  Investigation revealed that the female stole the bottle from Giant Eagle in North Ridgeville.

12-09- An officer initiated a traffic stop on Root Rd. at Reed Rd. for a marked lanes violation.  Contact was made contact with the male driver and the officer detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage upon the driver's breath.  A series of FSTs indicated the driver was impaired and he was arrested.  The vehicle was released to a sober driver.  The male was transported to NRPD where he was processed and released. 

12-09- An officer ran a check of a vehicle registration which showed that the owner had a warrant for his arrest.  The subject drove to a nearby business where he was taken into custody.  A second male was arrested for attempting to mislead Officers on the wanted person's whereabouts. 

12-10- An officer was dispatched to the parking lot of Marc's in reference to a reckless vehicle in in the parking lot.  The vehicle was located and the male driver was arrested for No Operator's License and Possession of Marijuana. 

12-10- An officer made contact with the an administrator from the NR High School reference a student who was dropped off by his parents but left the school shortly thereafter. The student, along with his juvenile girlfriend, were found at the residence of an eleven year old female.  The juveniles will be referred to LC Juvenile Court for obstructing, unruly behavior, and possession of tobacco products. 

12-10-A  male, who pulled into Speedway Gas on US 20 was identified and found to be driving under an OVI suspension. He was issued a citation for DUS and given a court date at Elyria Municipal Court.

12-10- Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of a local elementary school in reference to a suspected intoxicated driver that recently picked up her granddaughter from school. A description of the vehicle was given, and officers located the vehicle EB on US 20 in the vicinity of Olive Avenue. the officer observed several marked lanes violations and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle on US 20, West of Lear Nagle Road.The driver had an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. She was asked to exit the vehicle and submit to a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The results indicated that she was under the influence of alcohol, and she was taken into custody. The child was released to her mother on scene. She was charged with OVI and Endangering Children.

12-12-The defendant was stopped for weaving and marked lane violations on US 20, eastbound, between Emerald and Mills Creek Ln.  The defendant's eyes were red and glassy and the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected.  The defendant's speech was slurred and he admitted to consuming.  Field sobriety tests showed impairment and the defendant was taken into custody for OVI.  The defendant's vehicle was towed and he was transported to the station.  While on station, the defendant was processed, cited and released.

12-12-A resident reported finding his neighbors back window broken. He has been watching the house since the owner passed away. It was determined the house had been entered, but nothing of value was missing.

12-13- An officer initiated a traffic stop on Lorain Rd. The driver and passenger were both found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The driver was additionally cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both occupants were cited and released at the scene.

12-14- At 0457 hours, a resident from South Mills Creek reported a suspicious condition. A subsequent search of the area led to the arrest of a male juvenile for several criminal violations. The arrested juvenile was transported to NRPD processed, and released to his guardian. The incident will be referred to LCJC.

12-14-The owner of Blue Barn Antiques reported a Breaking & Entering with several items taken.  The next day, early in the morning a juvenile was caught in the area.  The juvenile was questioned about the break in and admitted to entering the Blue Barn.  The property was recovered and the juvenile was referred to Juvenile Court.

12-14- Officers were at the defendant's house to retrieve items from a burglary.  Officers found numerous drug paraphernalia items along with marijuana plants he was cultivating.  The juvenile defendant was referred to juvenile court for drug paraphernalia and cultivation of marijuana.

12-14- At 0300 an officer was dispatched to 6363 Eastview Ave. in reference to a threat that was made over the telephone.  The officer spoke with the victims who stated their daughters ex-boyfriend and father of her child called and threatened them at 3:00 a.m.  The victim was allowed to sign charges of aggravated menacing and telephone harassment.

12-17- Officers received a citizen complaint of a motorist passed out in the parking lot in a parked vehicle.  Upon arrival, they located the subject passed out in a running vehicle.  The subject was arrested and transported to NRPD.  He was charged with OVI.

12-17- An officer was dispatched to a business on Center Ridge Rd. on a report of forgery.  Upon arrival,  the officer spoke with the business owner, who advised that one of his employee's has been forging his signature on checks and  has cashed them.

12-17- While conducting a special detail on US Rt. 20 and Barton Road, a black colored vehicle drove past with it's car stereo at a very loud volume.  A short time later, the same vehicle was stopped at the traffic signal facing the opposite direction. The operator rolled down his window and smiled over towards the officer.  The traffic signal turned green and the operator accelerated fast, spinning its tires and driving off at a high speed.  The officer entered his cruiser and attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the vehicle attempted to flee into a development in Westlake.  A short time later the officer located the vehicle and made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The operator was arrested and his vehicle was towed.  The twenty (20) year old male was later released after being cited for Fleeing and Reckless Operation.
