North Ridgeville Police Department Explorer Program began in 1997. The primary function of the program is to provide the youth of North Ridgeville, both male and female, an opportunity to have a first hand look at law enforcement. They participate in classes in various police and criminal justice subjects, and are exposed to a host of other opportunities within law enforcement. 

Members of North Ridgeville's Explorer Post have fulfilled internships at Elyria Municipal court, assisting Judge Musson and his staff. One of our members was selected from hundreds of other applicants to attend the National Police Explorer conference in Washington, D.C. Many of our former members are currently serving our country in various branches of the military, including one who now serves in the United States Army as an agent with the Criminal Investigation Division.

The explorer program is supervised by Sgt. Richard Dietz with asistance from Patrolmen Matthew Downing, Calvin Cross, and Jason Dancy.
