The Division of Fire Prevention for the North Ridgeville Fire Department is headed by Assistant Chief Scott Bement. The primary goal of the division of fire prevention is to prevent life and property loss. This is accomplished through inspections, public education, and pre-planning for emergencies. 

Assistant Chief Bement performs the major portion of inspecting all of our city's businesses. He is also responsible for assigning company inspections, plan reviews, and post-fire investigations. He is a state certified Fire Safety Inspector and a member of the Lorain County Association of Fire Investigators,  National Association of Fire Investigators, International Association of Arson Investigators, North East Ohio Fire Prevention Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Ohio Fire Chiefs Association and the Lorain County Fire Chiefs. Assistant Chief Bement has 30 years of service and experience.
