Recreational Fire Permits
The North Ridgeville Fire Department maintains a recreational fire permit program in order to track recreational fire locations and encourage safe burning practices. Recreational fire permit requirements are as follows:
- Permit must be issued to the property owner
- The size of the recreational fire is not to exceed three feet in diameter and two feet in height
- Material to be burned shall be well seasoned wood or charcoal only
- Material shall be ignited with a small quantity of paper only
- The fire shall be constantly attended by a competent person until such fire is extinguished
- Location of the fire shall be not less than fifty feet from any structure
- Adequate provision is made to prevent fire from spreading to within fifty feet of any structure
- A recreational fire may be prohibited pending atmospheric conditions, local circumstances, hazardous or objectionable situations
Recreational fire permits are issued at no cost to the property owner and are good for the entire year in which they are issued. Permits may be obtained at fire station one (Route 83), Monday-Friday 8am-4pm.
